Television Group, when his contract expires in January 2012. He had
joined ABC Daytime in 2002.
GH's longtime Executive Producer Jill Farren Phelps has been replaced

Prospect Park's Rich Frank and Jeffrey Kwatinetz announced on
Wednesday, November 23, that "the launch of OLTL and AMC on TOLN have
been shelved." They cannot "meet deadlines to get OLTL on the air in a
reasonable time period following its January 13, 2012 ABC finale,"
because they have failed to find a solution to their "mounting issues."
AFTRA, the union that represents actors on AMC and OLTL, states that
it "was deeply disappointed to read that the executives at Prospect Park
have decided to suspend their efforts to produce the long-running and
popular daytime serials, 'One Life to Live' and 'All My Children,' via
online distribution. Despite initial progress in our negotiations with
Prospect Park toward resolving a fair agreement to cover the performers
appearing on these programs, we were perplexed and disappointed that for
the past month Prospect Park has not responded to our repeated inquiries
to resume those discussions. We now conclude from the press reports that
Prospect Park faced other challenges unrelated to our negotiations,
which prevented continuation of those discussions. We remain hopeful
that an opportunity to revive these two popular series will emerge in
the future, and remain ready to resume discussions should that
opportunity arise."
To make the Daytime Emmy nomination process fairer in 2012, NATAS
(The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences) has instituted
some changes. There will no longer be a limit of 2 actors from each show
who can submit their name in the pre-nomination process in each
category. Therefore, everyone will have a chance to be considered for an
award, not just the most well-known actors. Also, judging pre-nominees
hopefuls will take place online. The top 10 pre-nominees from each
category will be announced on March 2, 2012.
OLTL's creator Agnes Nixon will guest as Agnes Dixon, creator of
Llanview's own soap "Fraternity Row." She will tape her episode on
November 17 to air the week of January 9, 2012.
Erika Slezak
(Viki), Ted King (Tomás), Michael Easton (John), Kassie DePaiva (Blair),
Sean Ringgold (Shaun), Melissa Archer (Natalie), Jerry VerDorn (Clint),
Kelley Missal (Danielle), and Andrew Trischitta (Jack), have all agreed to
join the show's online production after the network finale in January. Tuc Watkins (David), Josh Kelly (Cutter), Florencia Lozano (Téa),
and Shenell Edmonds (Destiny) have also agreed to stay with the
show next year pending agreements with AFTRA. The total number of OLTL actors
heading to TOLN is now 13.
The Online Network (TOLN) is partnering with Universal Music Group to
license tunes from its libraries to use on AMC & OLTL when both series
relaunch online. The deal will allow for cross-promotion, e-commerce, and
artist participation with the new productions. Fans will be able to purchase
the music they hear and access other exclusive content only available
online.
Prospect Park announced that The Online Network (TOLN) will launch in
January 2012 at www.TOLN.com and
www.theonlinenetwork.com. TOLN will feature new episodes of AMC and
OLTL, as well as first-run entertainment and lifestyle shows.

OLTL turned 43 on July 15, 2011! It premiered in 1968, airing between GH and
"Dark Shadows," and was originally called "Between Heaven and Hell." The
opening scene was the image of a roaring fireplace followed by the death of
Dr. Ted Hale who fell down a flight of stairs after a fight with Larry Wolek.
Faces were added to the opening montage in 1984, and in 1987, Peabo Bryson
added words to the show's theme song, which was one of the first soaps to do
so.
"Playing Reva Shayne was so much more than just a job and a paycheck. It
was the role of a lifetime." -Kim Zimmer, from
I'm Just Sayin'
The landscape of daytime television will dramatically change next year
when soap operas All My Children and One Life to Live go off the air,
cancelled after more than forty years on television. No one knows what the
demise of these shows will mean for television and for the affected actors
better than Guiding Light veteran and one of daytime's favorites, Kim
Zimmer. Her show was cancelled in 2009, ending one of television's
longest-running success stories and leaving Zimmer without a job.
This August, New American Library is excited to publish Zimmer's new book,
I'M JUST SAYIN'!: Three Deaths, Seven Husbands, and a Clone! My Life as a
Daytime Diva (New American Library Hardcover; August 2, 2011; $26.95;
ISBN: 978-0-451-23343-1).
Zimmer, a four-time Emmy Award-winning actress, is known around the world
for her twenty-seven year portrayal of Reva Shayne on the popular daytime
drama Guiding Light. While on the show, Zimmer played a vixen, a
manic-depressive, an Amish woman, a time traveler, a Civil War belle, a
talk show host, a cancer survivor, a loving mother, and a devoted wife.
But now in her new memoir, Zimmer shares the story of the woman behind
Reva-from her beginnings as a small-town Midwestern girl to landing one of
the greatest roles in the history of daytime television and becoming a
soap opera icon.
In I'M JUST SAYIN'!, Zimmer also talks about:
* Why soap operas are going off the air after decades of popularity
* Her struggles with alcohol and how it impacted her family and her career
* How she balanced being a busy working mother (her "greatest role") and a
full-time career woman
* Her encounters with such celebrities as Kathleen
Turner, Alec Baldwin, and Oprah Winfrey
* How she has managed to maintain
a successful marriage for thirty years
* The difficulties of losing a job
later in life, especially in a field that is youth and beauty focused, and
how she continues to pursue her acting dreams
Blatantly honest and wildly entertaining, I'M JUST SAYIN'! takes readers
on an insightful journey through the parallel lives of Reva Shayne and Kim
Zimmer and chronicles the stories behind Guiding Light, the
longest-running drama in television and radio history (72 years!).
The production company Prospect Park will produce new episodes of AMC and
OLTL online after purchasing both shows' rights from ABC. They supposedly
will take charge of the same cast, crew, and talent in the multi-year deal,
delivering the programs via online formats and emerging platforms including
Internet-enabled television sets. (Additional information regarding those
details will be released by Prospect Park at a later date.)
