This show uses some weird animation. I'm not sure what you really call it. It's
kind of like cut-and-paste pictures mixed with real animation and some
live-action. I found this a little hard to watch at first, but I quickly got
used to it. I wish I could say that that the humor of the show made me forget
all about the unusual animation. It just isn't that funny. Maybe it's just my
personal sense of humor. I'm sure some people would really love this type of
off-the-wall humor. I prefer something a little more direct or more funny. There
were a few chuckles, but that's it. It's for people with very bizarre senses of
humor.
I really tried to watch many episodes, but it just didn't get any better. I
couldn't bring myself to watch an entire episode, to be honest. And each episode
is only 11 minutes long, so that's saying something.
Basically, the mayor sits in his office and watches TV. Occasionally he meets
with the city council, where he throws out very weird ideas that make no sense.
For some reason, the outer part of the mayor's office looks like a doctor's
office. Tom, one of the town's citizens, goes to the mayor's office and offers
up some weird (bad) idea for the mayor.
The extras, from what I can tell, are mostly made-up. They are not real extras.
Like it says, "deleted scenes", "A tribute to Bob Odenkirk", "outtakes" etc. and
they all are just lame spoofs of the kind of real DVD extras you usually get. I
believe the sample of artwork and the promos are real, and that's about it.
There are, however, vast commentaries for each episode, so real fans should love
that.
The packaging is very good. Each disks has a full-color photograph of food on
it. Strange, like the show, but pretty, too.
The show was only on for one season in 2004, so I'm guessing I'm not the only
one who didn't understand the humor. It definitely has its fans, though from
what I have read on the net. You might want to rent one of the disks first to
see if you like it, but only if you have a very bizarre sense of humor.
