Dr. Perkins (James Tupper), a trauma counselor, is brought in to help in the

a spontaneous decision to resign as Chief and rushes back into surgery,
taking everything a little too fast, and Cristina buries herself in her

Michael Ausiello of EW Spoilers: Question:
What’s going on with Katherine Heigl? Is
she ever going to be returning to Grey’s Anatomy? —Hannah
Ausiello: Heigl’s due back on the Grey’s set on
Monday, so it looks like Izzie will be in this season’s final five
episodes. What happens after that is anyone’s guess. In other Grey’s
news, I just learned that a second Mercy Wester will not be
returning next season. Have you figured out who the
other one is yet?

Question: What’s coming up for Sam and Addison on Private Practice?
—Lisa
Ausiello: Things will heat up between those two crazy kids in February,
but their guilty consciences will prove a major obstacle. There will
also be an added complication involving (MAJOR SPOILER ALERT) another
doctor who has long been waiting in the wings.
Question: I am drinking a Diet Raspberry Snapple and thinking of you (in
a non-stalker sort of way) and am hoping you might give me some Grey’s
Anatomy scoop! —Lesley
Ausiello: Mexie is M’over. The lovers will break things off this week,
but it doesn’t really become official until next week when word of their
respective dalliances comes to light. Interestingly, someone’s not as
pissed off as I would’ve thought.
Question: When is Izzie returning to Grey’s Anatomy? —Jesse
Ausiello: Katherine Heigl returns to the set in late February, so, by my
guesstimation, we’ll see Izzie back on air in March or April. In related
news, I want that schedule. I’ll even adopt a baby if that’s what it
takes.

Will Alex and Izzie remain together on Grey's Anatomy?
From previous spoilers (and the impression we get), we feel confident
in sticking a fork in
Lexie and Mark, at least for the time being. But what about Izzie
and Alex?
Katherine Heigl returns to Grey's Anatomy this week in "I Like You So
Much Better When You're Naked." But as the
sneak peeks show, the reunion is far from joyful.
According to insiders, when it comes to their future, "all bets are
off." So basically, no one has any real idea what will happen after
Izzie leaves Seattle Grace again.
As for Alex's professional life, Arizona may be playing a bigger
role. "I finally bring Alex back in the fold," Jessica Capshaw
told TV Guide. "Arizona ends up advocating for Alex to find
his way in peds and see if he can hack it. He has a very hardcore
experience."
The actress who plays Dr. Robbins says she wants to prove working
with kids isn't all fluff: "Anyone can operate on brains, but try and
operate on baby brains!"

In the
first two sneak previews for this week's Grey's Anatomy,
the focus was definitely on Izzie's return to Seattle - and the
aftermath of Alex's hookup with Lexie.
Now, three more clips from
"I Like You So Much Better When You're Naked" have been released,
giving us a peek at two of the episode's other ongoing story lines.
In the clip below, Teddy and Cristina talk about her startling
statement last week, in which she apparently offered to trade Owen
like a commodity for cardio glory:

drinking is about to become a bigger issue now that
Derek knows it (thanks to Mer).

react? See below and comment ...
Grey’s Anatomy 6.12 Sneak Peek 3
January 20, 2010 by Ingrid Diaz
If you’ve been dying for some MerDer action, or at least some scenes
between the two, your prayers have been answered. The following clip
has the two of them and a very important reminder that the two are
officially married. So sit back, relax, and enjoy another sneak
peek, featuring Meredith, McDreamy and the Law of Post-It.
They’re so cute together. Undoubtedly, the issues with the
Chief’s alcoholism will have to be dealt with one way or another,
and now that Meredith let the cat out of the bag, Derek feels he’s
got a responsibility to the hospital to reveal Richard’s secret to
the board. But Meredith puts her foot down and calls Post-It, which
is apparently a very important and unbreakable law in the
McHousehold.

ADAM: After Alex hooked up with Lexie last week, all bets are off.
But it seems his on-and-off thing with pediatrics might be back on

her mission to prove working with kids isn’t all fluff. “Anyone can

Episode 6.10: Holidaze
Airdate: November 19, 2009
11/14 - As Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's pass, Miranda is
visited by her father, William, who disapproves of her choices in life;
meanwhile, Mark and Lexie must cope with the shocking arrival of a woman
from his past, and Thatcher Grey questions the Chief's recent behavior
as Meredith comes to his defense.
Source: ABC
11/01 - Remember when I told you that Grey's Anatomy was casting the
role of Miranda Bailey's mother? Well, show creator Shonda Rhimes has
changed her mind. Instead, she's decided to introduce us to Miranda's
father, William Bailey, in the Nov. 19 episode. It will chronicle the
Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Eve holidays all in one episode.
Frankie Faison, who played Commissioner Ervin H. Burrell on HBO's The
Wire, will pop in on his daughter Miranda to check in on how she's
doing, given all the recent changes in her life. Meanwhile, blonde
beauty Leven Rambin (All My Children, Terminator: The Sarah Connor
Chronicles) will join the show in the same episode to kick off a story
arc as a woman from Mark Sloan's past who complicates his romance with
Lexie. "They have something coming down the road that's rather big,"
Chyler [Leigh] tells me. "This trial will definitely show whether they
have what it takes to weather the storms."

11/01 - Danielle Panabaker, best known for her role as James Woods'
daughter on CBS' Shark, is checking into Grey's Anatomy next month. The
actress will play a patient under the care of Cristina and Jackson in
the Nov. 19 episode. "It's a really sweet, heartbreaking story," says a

10/24 - Grey's Anatomy will bid adieu to 2009 later this season when
the Seattle Grace staff celebrates Thanksgiving, Christmas and New
Year's-all in one very special installment. That's a lot of turkey! Not
to mention an extra helping of high emotion. "We're pretty excited,"
show creator Shonda Rhimes tells me. "We'll be watching time pass as we
take the audience into the new year." Sounds like several balls will be
dropping as the drama shifts away from medical cases and focuses instead
on the characters' personal hopes and heartbreaking disappointments.
Over the holidays, "people feel like something magical or momentous
should happen," Rhimes explains. "But often nothing does." In the
episode, we will meet Miranda Bailey's (Chandra Wilson) mother, whom
Rhimes describes as "more Bailey than Bailey. You'll finally see where
Bailey gets her stuff." [... Bailey's mother], now tentatively named
Rachel, is described as being between the ages of 55-65 and very
tasteful, classy and smart. But sadly, she'll apparently also be
checking in to Seattle Grace Hospital around the holidays as a patient.
[...] And in between unwrapping gifts, Mark and Lexie's holiday
happiness will be rocked by the arrival of a character from his past
whom Rhimes says will cause the couple "to fall on hard times." Sorry,
Little Grey. Source:

General Spoilers:
11/14 - "[Meredith and Derek] will face some relationship challenges,
many of them work-oriented, in the second half of the season," reveals
exec producer Shonda Rhimes. The Queen of Shondaland, however, insists
that this latest obstacle will not result in the newly
married-via-Post-It pair breaking up. [...] Izzie will be MIA for
another string of episodes (most likely in early 2010).

11/14 - Girlfriends Callie and Arizona will share screen time with
boyfriends Jeff and Aaron in an early 2010 episode. The male couple, in
their 30's checks into Seattle Grace Mercy Hospital when Aaron, an
overweight opera singer, takes ill (Grey's is looking for an actor who
can sing a cappella). Aaron will be supported by his husband Jeff, who
works as a teacher.

10/18 - Veteran actor Joel Grey, 77, will appear in a November
episode of Grey's Anatomy as Izzie's old high school teacher. "It's a
pretty amazing episode," says show creator Shonda Rhimes. "He was the
teacher who convinced Izzie she was more than a girl from the trailer
park. And now he's in need of her help." This will be Katie's only
episode in November sweeps, as she is off shooting a movie. Rhimes is
also considering bringing back Sharon Lawrence as Izzie's trashy mama,
Robbie Stevens, who was last seen at her ailing daughter's bedside.

Keck's Exclusives
10/11 - Meredith Grey won't go missing from Seattle Grace after all.
Sources confirm that Ellen Pompeo is expected to return to the set of
Grey's Anatomy "very soon" after giving birth to baby girl Stella Luna
Sept. 15. Thanks to her early return, as well as her willingness to
preshoot scenes before the birth (most of which took place in bed after
Meredith's liver surgery in [October 8's] episode), it is working out
that not a single episode will go Meredith Grey-less. Pretty good news
for Meredith and Derek fans, right?
Source:
Kristin on E!Online
09/27 - I'm now hearing that the five episodes [Katherine Heigl]'ll
be missing may not be consecutive.
Source: The
Ausiello Files
09/06 - Katherine Heigl won't have to worry about putting in long
hours on the Grey's Anatomy set for much longer. Sources confirm to me
exclusively that the actress is taking a five-episode hiatus from the
ABC drama to go shoot the Greg Berlanti-directed romantic comedy Life as
We Know It. ABC and Grey's producers have accommodated Heigl's busy film
schedule before, but this is the first time they have given her
permission to leave the show for an extended period of time. I'm told
Heigl's absence will be explained on screen, although it's not clear
what prompts Izzie to take off. (Marital trouble with Alex? A trip home
to see mom? A Denny sighting in the Caribbean?) The fact that Heigl was
granted such a lengthy leave of absence is surprising in light of the
public tongue-lashing ABC president Stephen McPherson gave her last
month for complaining about a 17-hour work day. Also, Heigl's departure
- which starts this month and will kick in on screen around November -
will almost certainly overlap with co-star Ellen Pompeo's maternity
leave. Translation: Grey's will be without Izzie and Meredith at the
same time! [...] Not so coincidentally, Grey's recently announced it was
adding three new doctors to its rotation: Nora Zehetner, Robert Baker,
and Jesse Williams are joining the cast as recurring residents/ medical
professionals. [...] Mark-Lexie scoop is what you're getting. "They've
got a lot of challenges coming down the pike," concedes exec producer
Krista Vernoff. "The most consistent challenge is the one that's built
into the fabric of their relationship: He's pushing 40, she's in her
early 20s." [... Derek]'ll get some much-needed alone time. As exec
producer Krista Vernoff explains, Dempsey has been "patiently" waiting
to get a story that wasn't directly tied to the Der-Mer love story. And
this season he'll get his wish. "Derek hasn't been a fully explored
character separate from Meredith," Vernoff admits. "The fact that by
necessity Ellen is going to need a little less screen time gives us more
encouragement to explore Derek as a doctor." This includes what Vernoff
describes as an "extraordinary medical story" involving Derek and a
patient in this season's sixth episode, directed by co-star Chandra
Wilson. Source:
The Ausiello
Files
09/06 - According to inside sources, this season of Grey's Anatomy
is overwhelmingly defined by the merger of Seattle Grace and crosstown
rival Mercy West. Yep, Seattle Grace is about to double in size,
bringing in a slate of new doctors and paving the way for major
shake-ups in the season to come. What does this mega medical merger mean
for our favorites? Well, Dr. Izzie Stevens is getting fired. Yes, fired,
as in dismissed or downsized. Izzie gets laid off in the big merger and
vanishes for a handful of episodes while Heigl shoots her next movie,
Life as We Know It. The shake-up also provides cover for Ellen Pompeo's
maternity leave. She'll fade into the background while new doctors,
administrators and nurses (played by the likes of Robert Baker, Jesse
Williams and Nora Zehetner) fill in the gaps our MIA faves leave behind.
Producers are, however, working to keep Meredith Grey in as many eps as
possible. This week Pompeo is banking footage for her maternity leave by
shooting scenes for two episodes at once. The Seattle Grace-Mercy West
merger storyline is part of a long-term plan hatched by producers and
ABC execs to make Grey's Anatomy a viable going concern for years to
come. (We hear they want something like an ER that could continue for 15
years or more.) No matter who's pregnant, moonlighting or otherwise
unavailable, the writers will have a large, endlessly expandable palette
of characters and situations with which to work. So, going forward, if
Patrick Dempsey needs to shoot a movie (as he will, later this season),
the new and improved Seattle Grace permits plenty of wiggle room in
schedules and storylines.

Grey's Anatomy. Details about the character are under wraps, but it is
understood that he is a sexy, confident new medical professional.

Hollywood Reporter
08/30 - Sources tell us that Grey's Anatomy has cast two very hairy
new guest stars: a monkey and a bear. Yes, in an upcoming episode, the
Grey's castmembers work with a monkey and a bear, and no those aren't
euphemisms for something.
Source:
Kristin on E!Online [Note: The bear already
appeared on the show this season.]
08/16 - James Pickens Jr. tells us, "The Chief has some really
interesting stuff coming up this season. There's a part of his personal
life that viewers haven't seen yet, and it's going to be very
intriguing, and they're going to really like what's going to happen."
[...] Owen Hunt and Cristina Yang are getting even closer this year,
though something arises from his past that may throw a wrench in the
matter. [Kevin McKidd reveals that the relationship is] "going to get
quite complicated in the sense that I think they've gotten over the
whole trauma of his past, but then his past comes back again at some
point to haunt him. Someone comes to the hospital that he was connected
to in his past, not his ex-fiancée, but it's somebody we didn't expect.
I think it could get a little tricky, but exciting and interesting.
Hopefully it will bring them closer together in the long run."Source:

From tvguide.com: I loved the Arizona-centric episode of
Grey's
Anatomy. What's next for her? — Lori ADAM: Show of jazz hands: Who wants a musical episode of
Grey's? Well, you're probably out of luck, but we will see Arizona
sing in the coming weeks! Better still, it's a duet, but don't expect Tony
winner Sara
Ramirez to be her partner in song. Instead, Arizona will trill with one
of her male co-stars. I hear the Chief has a rich baritone.
Got any big news about Private
Practice? — Erica ADAM: Big? Try explosive! In the Dec. 3 episode, Dell's
house will go up in meth cooking-related flames with his ex-girlfriend and
daughter inside. Sadly, one of the two will be making a visit to the burn
ward.
